DuplexDr - the "Virtual Serial Port Pairs" utility for WindowsWith DuplexDr, you can create a pair of virtual serial ports (VSP pair) "virtually connected to each other" in your Microsoft Windows system. With DuplexDr, you can create a pair of virtual serial ports (VSP pair) "virtually connected to each other" in your system. A virtual serial port appears to application software as a "standard" MS Window's communications port (virtually identical to an RS-232 port). Data may be written to VSP by applications, and data may be read from VSP as though it were a standard COM port. Entering VSP pairs, you can create and use "a VSP pairs pool". The pool of VSP pairs can be used to supply any MS Windows application with serial ports as though they were standard serial ports and physically connected in pairs. This feature is available after installation of the corresponding driver included in the package. This allows MS Windows applications to generate or consume data to and from VSP as though the data were being processed by physical hardware. DuplexDr can be used for sending and receiving data between two separate MS Windows applications running on your PC, thus connecting one application to another by using a VSP pair (e.g., SoftIce and VMWare support VSP as well as HyperTerminal). Also, you can use the tracing utility to document the virtual serial port traffic between your software applications that communicate with such a VSP pair channel (e.g., for application development testing).
